Gold Coast Transit District (GCTD) is preparing for service changes planned to take effect on January 3, 2027, including adjustments to routes, schedules, and bus stops.
The planned changes include previously approved recommendations from GCTD's Short-Range Transit Plan (SRTP) that were delayed from July 2026, along with a proposed reduction of approximately 5% in fixed-route service to address the District's budgetary constraints.
The GCTD Board of Directors is scheduled to consider the proposed service reductions on November 4, 2026.
Passengers are encouraged to review the proposed changes and check back for updates as plans are finalized.
Routes 1A and 1B will be combined into a single Route 1, with a revised alignment through South Oxnard and Port Hueneme.
As part of the realignment, Route 1B service along Bard Road toward Ventura Road and Route 1A service along Pleasant Valley Road and Perkins Road will be discontinued. Service along Ponoma Street will also be discontinued. The southern portion of the route will be realigned to provide service along J Street toward Hueneme Road.
Route 23 will continue to serve portions of the affected areas.
Some existing bus stops will be discontinued, and new stops will be added along the revised alignment. Route 1 will operate every 20 minutes during designated peak service hours, with reduced frequency during some early morning and evening periods.

Route 6 will continue operating along its existing alignment, with schedule adjustments to provide consistent 20-minute service during peak hours.
The revised schedule will include timed connections with Route 1 at Oxnard Transit Center (OTC).
Early morning and evening service frequency reductions are also proposed as part of the January service adjustments.
Route 10 will no longer serve the Saticoy neighborhood south of Highway 126. Route 11 will provide service to this area instead.
Routes 10 and 11 will have timed connections at Wells Center.
Route 11 will be modified to serve the Saticoy neighborhood on every other trip, with timed connections to Route 10 at Wells Center.
Route 11 will continue to serve the Telephone Road corridor every 30 minutes between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Route 16 will continue operating along its existing alignment, with schedule adjustments to coordinate connections at Ventura Transit Center (VTC).
In addition to the route changes described above, GCTD is proposing an approximately 5% reduction in systemwide fixed-route service hours to address budgetary constraints.
The proposed reductions would primarily affect service frequency and hours of operation on select routes, including some early morning, evening, and weekend trips.
Passengers may experience longer wait times between buses or changes to the first and last trips of the day.
These proposed service reductions are subject to Board approval on November 4, 2026.
Updated schedules and additional route-specific information will be made available as plans are finalized.
