Trip Cancellations

While we strive to minimize disruptions and maintain a consistent schedule, unforeseen circumstances occasionally necessitate the cancellation of certain trips. Some factors we consider are Safety (inclement weather, natural disasters, or other emergencies), Mechanical Issues (just like regular vehicles, unexpected breakdowns can occur), and Operator Availability (staff shortages). While we understand that trip cancellations can be frustrating and inconvenient, we want to assure you that they are not taken lightly. Our commitment to passenger safety are central to our decision-making.

Additionally, due to construction or other obstruction hindering safe access, we will also close bus stops. Those listings will include information on the estimated length of the closure, either temporary or long term.

GCTD has a number of tools you can check before going to your bus stop so that you can be sure your bus is running on schedule:

  • Download the GOVCbus app to check the current trip detours in Real Time.  This is the most up-to-date source of information.
  • GCTD staff will post scheduled cancellations on this page with as much notice as possible.  Check back here often.
  • Call our Customer Service Center at 805-487-4222, Monday-Friday from 8am-6pm and our bilingual staff will assist you.

If you are traveling between the hours of 7:00pm and 12:00am, you can also utilize the Late Night Safe Rides service, available to anyone at a cost of $2 per ride. To book a trip, please call 805-485-2319, ext. 1. More information on Sunrise / Late Night Safe Rides available here.
